How does an online video consultation work?
An online video consultation lets you see and speak to your doctor from anywhere, through HelloDr's secure in-app call — no separate software, no extra accounts, and nothing to download. It's a real consultation that ends with a proper digital prescription, just like a clinic visit.
Before the call
- Book an online slot with a doctor who offers video consults and complete the advance payment.
- Use a device with a working camera and microphone, and a stable internet connection.
- Find a quiet, well-lit, private space where you can speak freely.
- Keep any previous reports or current medicines nearby to show or share.
Joining
- A few minutes before your slot, open the appointment in your dashboard (or tap the link in your reminder).
- Tap Join and allow camera and microphone access when prompted.
- Wait in the room — the doctor joins at the scheduled time.
During and after
Describe your concern clearly; the doctor may ask you to show an affected area on camera. You can also chat and share files in the same conversation. Afterwards, your doctor issues a digital prescription saved straight to your account, and you can book a follow-up or order medicines and tests directly from there.
Trouble connecting? See camera/mic troubleshooting. If video won't work at all, you can usually continue the consultation by chat so your time isn't wasted.
