How does home sample collection work?
Home sample collection lets you get tested without leaving home — ideal if you're busy, unwell, or caring for someone who can't easily travel. A trained phlebotomist comes to you, collects the sample, and the lab processes it.
How it works
- Choose home sampling when booking a test (where the lab offers it).
- Provide your address and a convenient time window.
- The phlebotomist arrives, verifies your details, and collects the sample.
- Results are uploaded to your account once processed.
Preparing
- Follow any fasting instructions for your specific test.
- Stay hydrated (unless told otherwise) — it makes a blood draw easier.
- Keep your ID and booking details handy.
- Wear loose sleeves for a blood test.
Charges and coverage
Home sampling may include a small collection fee, which is shown before you confirm. Coverage areas and timing depend on the individual lab, so not every address may be serviceable. If your area isn't covered, simply choose an in-lab visit instead.
If the collector doesn't arrive in your window, don't worry — see what to do if collection is missed or late.
